    Who:       Children birth to age 21

     

    The ChildFind Screening is conducted at the same time as the Preschool Readiness Screening

    Any child, age birth to 21 years of age, who reside within the Columbia School District boundaries, or is temporarily residing within the school district boundaries and who is suspected of having a disability, may be referred to the multidisciplinary team for possible screening and/or evaluation to determine the need for special education services.

    Typical areas to be screen include: large muscle development, eye-hand coordination, communications skills, concept development, social skills and self-help skills.

    If you wish to make a referral for a child that is not meeting typical developmental milestones, please contact Tracy Kraft, Special Education teacher at 722-3556 or Dr. William Wadlington at 722-3311. Appointments, or further information, can be obtained by contacting the Columbia School District office at 722-3311.     A table with laptop, registration forms and other paperwork will be situated near the West Entrance outside for at-school enrollment and online registration can be easily facilitated.

    Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten Registration

    Transitional Kindergarten (T-K) is a kindergarten program for children not yet age five (4 years old) who do not have access to high-quality early learning experiences prior to kindergarten and have been deemed by a school district, through a screening process and/or other instruments, to be in need of additional preparation to be successful in kindergarten the following year. Districts may select to offer TK programs. They are not required.” (from O.S.P.I.)  

    Columbia School District will offer Transitional kindergarten in the same classroom and with the same teacher as regular kindergarten. If interested , please plan to enroll on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 online at the Columbia School district website or at the school at the outdoor registration table near the West entrance.     Kindergarten (K) Registration: Kindergarten registration is for children who will be age five by September 1, 2020.
